In the BE S2ECURe project, human-centred factors are key metric elements for risk and resilience assessment, as well as design and evaluation of risk mitigation and reduction strategies in the Built Environment (BE). Such an approach can overcome the limitation of current approaches, which seem to generally underestimate the influence of users’ behaviour in disasters and their relation with elements composing the BE and its management.
Basing on WP1 and T1.3 activities, the work entitled "European Cities Prone to Terrorist Threats: Phenomenological Analysis of Historical Events towards Risk Matrices and an Early Parameterization of Urban Built Environment Outdoor Areas" identifies the parameters influencing the terroristic risk of the most recurrent and efficient attacks in the European context. It takes advantages of (i) analysis, (ii) current literature and (iii) existing strategies and guidelines at the European level. The main results are related to the relevance of Armed Assault and Bombing/Explosion Ats and Open Areas with the presence of public and strategic/symbolic buildings (ECs), while an interesting point of discussion is represented by physical obstacles.
